We still need lots of volunteer help for our book fair! There are lots of opportunities to help out between November 22nd and December 9th. You can sign up for a time when your child's class will be at the book fair (check with your teacher), or come anytime that's convenient for you. The greatest need is for the week of December 5th and during Family Shopping Night on December 8th. Please consider sharing an hour of your time! All volunteers will receive a FREE raffle ticket to one of our gift baskets that will be given away at the end of the Book Fair. The Book Fair runs from November 28th - December 9th. We have lots of fun things happening so make sure to mark your calendars now! ***One raffle ticket will be given for every $5 spent.
Nov. 29th & 30th: Donuts with Dad: Come in before school to shop the book fair with your Dad, Stepdad, Granddad, or Uncle. After your shopping, have a donut and juice in the cafeteria before heading to class. 8:00-8:45, Nov. 29th (last names A-M) and Nov. 30 (last names N-Z). During these two events we'll be raffling off some great prizes so please join us! Dec. 8th, 5:30-8:00 pm: Family Shopping Night: We'll have food trucks from Dang Good Dogs, My Cup Overflows (Southern), and Bo Knows (Korean). Several vegetarian options will be available. Make sure to get a FREE ice cream sundae in the cafeteria after completing the scavenger hunt. We'll also have free face painting, and you won't want to miss storytelling by Ms. Jones and Ms. Jenkins. We'll have 14 gift baskets up for grabs in our raffle drawing: Lego, Minecraft, Barbie, Shopkins, American Girl, Pokemon and more! Earn one raffle ticket for every $5 spent during the entire two weeks, and every parent earns a raffle ticket for each hour of volunteer service. Drawing will be held at 7:45 on family night, but you do not have to be present to win. Our first ever "All for Books" Coin Challenge was an overwhelming success! Our Chameleons raised $1,701 in spare change and dollar bills. We are humbled by everyone's generosity, especially those of our students who were excited about getting involved in giving. This money will be used to ensure that no student at Carpenter will leave the book fair empty handed because they can't afford a book. Every child deserves the gift of reading. All the remaining funds will be used to fulfill wish lists of our teachers to help fill their classroom libraries. And it doesn't end there! As a part of the program, Scholastic will match this donation toward a local non-profit that promotes childhood literacy. Comments are closed.
