Does your child love to create? Encourage them to share their talents in the National PTA Reflections Program, a nationwide arts recognition program provided by the National PTA with support from North Carolina PTA and our local PTA chapters that celebrates student creativity.
Reflections invites all Carpenter Elementary students to imagine, create, and belong. 🌟 Why Participate? Reflections is a chance for students to explore their creativity and express themselves around a meaningful theme as well as possibly gain recognition at the school, county, state, and even national levels! 📅 Key Dates Submissions Open on Thursday, September 10. Submissions Deadline is Friday, October 16, 2026 at 11:59pm (No entries will be accepted after this time.) ✅ How to Participate All entries must reflect this year’s theme — “What My Culture Means to Me” Think about what that means to you. Where do you feel most accepted, understood or safe? Who makes you feel like you're part of something? When do you feel most true to yourself? Then, create an original work of art that fits in one of the following six categories and submit it using the link below: 💃🏻 Dance Choreography 🎥 Film Production 📖 Literature 🎵 Music Composition 📸 Photography 🎨 Visual Arts Each student is allowed to submit ONE entry (in total), and if multiple entries are submitted, only the first submission will be considered and the other(s) whether within the same category or another will not be reviewed/accepted. Please don’t sign your work or include your name or any detail that makes you easily identifiable as each artwork needs to have anonymity for judging. 📢Know Your Division: PRIMARY (PreK-Grade 2) INTERMEDIATE (Grades 3-5) ‼️Follow the Rules All entries must meet State and National PTA guidelines. Get ready to Reach for the Sky, Chameleons! Our Toy Story themed COIN CHALLENGE starts on Monday, August 17th and runs through August 28th at 10AM! Each grade is a team in the challenge.
- Pennies, dollar bills (any amount) and checks: ADD to your team's total - Silver coins (nickels, dimes, quarters, half dollars, and silver dollars): SUBTRACT from a team's total Strategy Tip: put silver coins in another grade's bucket to bring down their total! Why is the PTA doing its own fundraising instead of using a third party like Boosterthon or Apex? Answer: These third party companies provide excellent resources to raise money for schools but all of those resources also come at a significant cost. Through utilizing in-house fundraising, Carpenter Elementary keeps all the funds raised and they directly impact the school community. Why should I participate in the Coin Challenge, what does my money fund? Answer: Money raised from the Coin Challenge provide funds for items that are NOT funded by the Wake County Public School System such as:
What is the fundraiser amount goal? Answer: We are dreaming BIG with this fundraiser and our goal is to raise $10,000 during this fundraiser; but, we will be delighted to receive more to provide more opportunities for students at Carpenter. When can students drop off money to fill their buckets? Answer: Students can drop off their money in buckets in the morning when they get to school. Teachers may also have designated times when they will go with the class to bring money to their buckets. Are dollar coins positive or negative towards a grade? Answer: Dollar coins can be good or bad depending on their color. If the dollar coin is silver then it SUBTRACTS from a grade's total. If a dollar coin is gold it ADDS to a grade's total. Are checks accepted during the Coin Challenge? Answer: Yes! Please make all checks out to Carpenter PTA. When is money counted and when are updates provided regarding the total for each class? Answer: Money swill be counted in the mornings after the last bell and totals will be updated each school day after 12PM on Social Media. School announcements will be made periodically during the challenge to update classes on their standing as well. Is there a prize for the winner of the challenge? Answer: There are actually prizes for the top THREE grades.

Who Will Win the Chameleon Tail? Spirit Day competitions are divided into two grade-level groups:
Pre-K and ECS Our Pre-K and ECS classrooms will have a competition of their own! The classroom with the highest Spirit Point total will earn the week-long visit from our adorable crocheted Chameleon Spirit Friend—a fun new way to celebrate school spirit with our youngest Chameleons! Grab your green, yellow, or Carpenter Spirit Wear and help your class win every Friday. Go Chameleons!  Get ready, 5th grade families—this is such a special time of year! From fun activities and memorable traditions to meaningful milestones, there’s a lot happening in the coming weeks.  Our Chameleon Creativity Took Center Stage! Our Fine Arts event was a wonderful celebration of the creativity and talent within our Carpenter community. A special thank you to the Carpenter Singers Club for their beautiful performance, which set the tone for an inspiring evening. We were also thrilled to showcase the incredible talents of our students across visual art, dance, vocal performance, and piano. Each piece reflected the hard work, passion, and artistic expression of our students. Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and helped make this event such a memorable success! _________________________________________________________________________ Join us for an evening celebrating the creativity and talent of our students at Fine Arts Night on Thursday, April 30th from 6:00-7:30pm. This special event will showcase the artistic achievements of all students, with a variety of performances and displays for everyone to enjoy.  We have our Fitness Challenge WINNERS!! 💪🎉 🥇1st Grade took the top spot and earned the ultimate prize—an ICE CREAM PARTY!🥈4th Grade is leveling up lunch with anywhere seating + fun music! 🥉2nd Grade is heading outside for some well-earned extra recess! Congratulations to our top performers, and to everyone for showing outstanding energy, commitment, and school spirit throughout the challenge! Together, we raised over $11,716.00 toward our $15,000 funding gap goal—WOW!! 👏 Thank you to our incredible families for your generosity and support. You made this such a fun and successful event for our school! We’re not done yet… let’s push to the finish line! Join us for our final fundraiser at Spirit Night at Handel’s Ice Cream on May 28th, and help us reach our goal and directly support essential needs like literacy programs, classroom technology, and improvements to our learning spaces—impacting every student in our school. 💚💛     Thank you to everyone who attended the Spring Movie Night on Friday, April 24th! It was a wonderful event attended by over 200 Carpenter students, family and friends. Our next Movie Night will be in the fall. __________________________________________________________________________ Get ready for a fun night under the stars at our Spring Movie Night on the playground Friday, April 24th! Join us for a showing of Zootopia 2—bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and the whole family for a relaxing evening with friends and neighbors. This event is free, and everyone will enjoy free popcorn, with candy and drinks available for purchase. Families may start arriving around 7pm, and the movie will start at 7:30pm. We kindly ask that you please register at this link if you plan to attend, so we can make sure we have enough supplies for everyone. Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult that stays the entirety of the movie. On the night, if you’re able to volunteer to help pass out popcorn, we would greatly appreciate it—thank you! **If you would like to buy spirit wear, such as blankets or shirts before the movie night, check out our spirit wear store. From February 11–25, we’re collecting new and gently used children’s books to help inspire a love of reading in young learners throughout our community. Whether it’s a favorite bedtime story or an exciting adventure book, your donation can make a lasting impact. 📍 Drop-off bins are located outside the school entrance for easy giving! Let’s come together to grow young minds, spark imagination, and share the joy of reading. We need your scientific curiosity on display at the Carpenter Elementary Science Expo on Thursday, February 19th, 2026 from 5:30-7:00 PM. It will take place in the Carpenter Elementary School gym with food trucks outside. What is the Science Expo? The Science Expo is an annual event where Carpenter Elementary School students display a science experiment they have completed at home. Students can choose any type of experiment they want to perform. Each student creates and brings a tri-fold display board to the event in order to present the procedure and results of their experiments. It is not a competition, but instead a fun event that encourages scientific curiosity in our students. Any student that participates will be entered to win a raffle prize! Who can participate? Any student from kindergarten through fifth grade at Carpenter can register. How do I register my child? Complete the online registration form at this address: https://tinyurl.com/2026CarpenterScienceExpo. Multiple students in the same family can register for a single project, though each student will need to be included on the registration form in the appropriate spaces. The deadline to submit a registration is Friday, February 13th. What are the guidelines for a project? Guidelines for the project are very flexible, but we ask you to follow these main criteria:
The Expo will be held on Thursday, February 19th from 5:30-7:00 in the cafeteria/gym at Carpenter Elementary School. Food trucks will be outside with dinner and dessert options. Schedule below: Registration and Set-Up: 5:30-6:00 Participants should enter through the main door of the school and register at the tables in the hall outside the entrance to the cafeteria. Each student will be assigned a space on one of the tables in the cafeteria for their display. Science Expo: 6:00-7:00 Students need to be present to talk about their project during the expo. Family members, teachers, administrators, and other students will walk around to discuss their experiments with the students. What if I have additional questions?
